Research at the Ed Satell Family Nitrogen-Hydrogen Alternative Fuels (NHAF) Reaction Research Laboratory, established by the Grand Technion Energy Program (GTEP), explores alternative fuels based on nitrogen that are eco-friendly, safe, and efficient, and that can be storage effectively. The nitrogen-based fuel is in an aqueous form, so it is non-toxic, non-explosive and safe to handle and transport. It was also found to emit low pollutant levels under the identified optimal continuous combustion conditions. As such, the nitrogen-based fuel has the potential to provide a sustainable and holistic solution to the world’s growing energy demand.
At the Satell NHAF Reaction Research Laboratory scientists investigate continuous combustion under high pressures, thermal analysis, catalytic process screening for pollutant control, and undertake computerized simulations and corrosion resistance experiments.
Technion’s Ed Satell Family NHAF Reaction Research Laboratory serves GTEP members as well as faculty from other Technion departments, and Israeli universities.
